Internship Requirement for Environmental Studies Majors:
Environmental Studies Majors are required to complete a 250-hour internship relating to their studies in the major in the summer after Junior year.
- Students may complete this requirement in the summer after Sophomore Year if they receive permission from the chair of the Major or the Faculty Internship Supervisor.
- Some internship sites may require more than 250 hours of on site work. The specific length of the internship will be decided with the On-Site supervisor before the internship begins.
Stipends:
The Tishman Environment and Design Center may be able to provide stipends to some students during their summer internship through grants from the Endeavor Foundation and the Mellon Foundation.
Please Note: Not every student doing an internship will receive a stipend. Stipends are allocated based on major and class level with a preference given to rising Seniors with a major in Environmental Studies.

Media Relations Intern

Programs Administration Intern
The Department of National Programs is looking for an intern to support a team of 8 staff who are working on projects to improve local and national food systems. The majority of the work will require administrative assistance. Depending on interest and skill level, the intern will also be able to participate on project teams that are working to transform national food policy, support our local chapters in their efforts to change local food systems, or develop volunteer leadership. Duties will include logistics, note-taking, correspondence, scheduling, and participating in projects on a case-by-case basis. This position requires an individual who is proficient in Word and Excel and is detail-oriented. The intern will report directly to the Director of National Programs.
Development Intern
The Development team is looking for two interns to assist with conducting and managing research for major donor prospects, grant proposals and corporate partnerships; assist with donor stewardship and appeals at the middle donor level; and assist with management of the fundraising database and donor records in support of development efforts. This internship will rely heavily on strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. The Development intern will learn valuable fundraising skills while supporting our work to promote good, clean and fair food.
Chapter Support Intern
Highlight SFUSA chapter work by creating engaging blog posts and email copy, contact SFUSA chapter leaders for short interviews and collect information on local projects and volunteers.
